Lightsource bp has completed over one third of the UK’s installed solar photovoltaic (PV) projects in the first quarter of 2013.<\/span><\/h2>\n

Lightsource Renewable Energy Limited, the UK\u2019s largest solar energy developer has completed and commissioned over 133 megawatts peak (MWp) of solar photovoltaic (PV) projects in the first quarter of 2013.<\/p>\n

The 133 MWp involved developing and\u00a0connecting 34 projects to the grid, and entailed an investment of over \u00a3180 million.<\/p>\n

Based on data published by Bloomberg New Energy Finance, this represents over one third of the 350 MWp of commissioned solar capacity which came on stream in the first quarter.<\/p>\n

Nick Boyle, CEO of Lightsource, said: \u201cThe tremendous success of the first quarter of 2013 reinforces Lightsource\u2019s position as the leading developer of utility scale solar in the UK.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cIt is my firm belief that the UK has one of the most robust solar markets in the world. These results<\/em> show we are well on track to achieving the Government\u2019s target of 22GW installed solar PV by 2020.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Since Lightsource began delivering solar PV projects in 2011, they have developed and commissioned utility scale solar totaling 250 MWp in the UK, investing \u00a30.5 billion in the process. Lightsource has a robust pipeline of projects, and expects to continue this strong start to the year.<\/p>\n

Lightsource works in partnership with Octopus Investments, one of the UK\u2019s largest investors in commercial solar.<\/p>\n

Matt Setchell, who heads up the solar team at Octopus, said: \u201cThe solar and broader renewables market in the UK is growing rapidly and there continues to be a great opportunity to deliver attractive and stable returns to our investors.<\/em><\/p>\n
