71MWdc in Batterstown, Dunboyne, County Meath<\/h2>\n

South Meath solar project is a 71MWdc solar site, set across 295 acres in Batterstown, County Meath. The project received planning permission in July 2018.<\/p>\n

The South Meath solar project was designed with a 110kV substation and two 16.2m tall cable masts to export the electricity generated. Lightsource bp\u2019s planning approach will help increase native biodiversity through initiatives such as hedgerow and tree-planting and the sowing of wildflowers to provide a suitable environment for wildlife to inhabit. Avian life will also have a refuge, as bird and bat boxes have been installed to provide an area for local species to nest. The passive nature of solar projects provides an ideal habitat for wildlife to recolonise, helping contribute towards the protection of the environment through low carbon energy and ecosystem regeneration.<\/p>\n

We hosted an information event for the local community to gather their feedback and opinions as we finalised the design for the solar project. Community consultation is an important part of the development process as it provides an opportunity to engage with local communities, allowing us to provide additional information and residents an opportunity to offer any suggestions.<\/p>\n
