New employment data for the solar industry in Europe has revealed the continued growth of job creation in the sector in 2023.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The annual EU Solar Jobs Report published by trade body SolarPower Europe shows around 830,000 people are now working in the sector. The pace of growth continues to outstrip that of the wider EU economy, which is currently growing at 0.3 percent.<\/p>\n

The trend is not unique to Europe. Recent data<\/a> from the US Bureau of Labor statistics showed clean energy jobs were growing at a rate of 4.2 percent twice as fast as the wider economy (2.0 percent). Solar employment performed particularly well growing by 5.3 percent during 2023.<\/p>\n

For solar, project deployment has been the main contributor to job creation. Supporting an accelerated rollout of solar projects is essential to continue the story of solar job growth.<\/p>\n

Putting renewable energy to work for our economies<\/h2>\n

Solar is often described as the workhorse of the energy transition. The people doing that work are also helping to boost the competitiveness of the wider economy. New modelling released by SolarPower Europe in the summer showed renewables, electrification and adding more flexibility to our grids, with batteries for example, could reduce energy prices by 25 percent by 2030.<\/p>\n
