Lightsource bp, a global industry leader in solar development, is pleased to announce that construction will begin on the company\u2019s first Australian project in the coming months. The project was acquired fully permitted from First Solar.<\/p>\n

The Wellington Solar Farm, at Goolma Road, Wuuluman, New South Wales, will have an installed capacity of 174MWac, producing 420,000MWh of clean, renewable electricity a year. The installation will generate enough energy to power approximately 70,000 homes, and will provide a carbon emissions saving of 336,000 tonnes, which is the equivalent of taking around 121,500 cars off the road.<\/p>\n

A wide range of surveys and assessments were undertaken during the development of the solar farm, covering flooding, fire risk, biodiversity management, traffic planning, noise and visual impact, cultural heritage management and more.<\/p>\n
